I blend naturopathy with my sleep and psychology learnings.

For infant’s sleep I do not recommend sleep training methods including cry-it-out and controlled crying. In addition, I believe sleep schedules can be used as guides only and need to be tailored to your child’s sleep needs. I do not feel there are ‘bad’ habits or ‘bad’ sleep associations. Finally, if you want to co-sleep and know how to do it safely, that’s ok. If you don’t want to co-sleep, that’s ok too. I encourage families to do what works best for their family, and any methods I recommend are gentle and encourage healthy attachment and cued care (responding appropriately to little one’s).

For children’s sleep, there are some times when behaviour modification is helpful. This does not mean sleep training, nor does it mean leaving the child to cry or being unresponsive to their needs. Nor does it mean punishment. Any behaviour modification methods recommended will be based on the research and behaviour modification principles taught in psychology which focus on gradual changes, preventing distress and reinforcing behaviour (for example with praise and modelling).

For adults sleep I blend naturopathy and psychology to look at the whole person. This means I will look at whole body health, along with sleep health. Where I’m different to other naturopaths is I’ve undertaken additional training and ongoing continuing education to hone my expertise in sleep.
