Sleep SOS Consult

The Sleep SOS consult provides immediate supportive advice for babies, toddlers and children (up to 17 years old) sleep challenges. If sleep has derailed, it may be enough to reclaim your family’s sleep!

Contact me from anywhere in the world and I’ll support you through the sleep challenges you are facing. Sometimes all you need is someone to talk to who’s faced a number of sleep challenges and is qualified to help you with yours.

About the consult
  • An initial SOS consult is for 45 minutes and follow up consults are 30 minutes; both are conducted online via telehealth (video call).
  • Cost: Please see the booking page for pricing. Book appointments as needed.
  • You’ll be sent an intake form to complete prior to the consult. By completing it prior to the consult it captures a health history and identifies potential red flags which allows us to fully focus on your sleep concerns and solutions in the consult.
  • In the consult you’ll have the opportunity to discuss your sleep concerns and goals for your baby/child. I’ll provide a tailored sleep plan with actionable sleep suggestions to address your sleep concerns.
  • Within 48 hours after the consult you’ll receive an email with notes of our discussion and a sleep plan (actionable sleep suggestions) in dot points.
  • I will send two complimentary follow up emails, usually in the first and second week after your SOS initial or follow up consult. You are welcome to email any queries through during the two weeks after your consult and I’ll endeavour to reply within 24-48 hours.

The Sleep Health Foundation estimates “more than a third of school aged children may have sleep problems”. In fact many children are wrongly labelled as being difficult or having a behavioural disorder when the underlying problem relates to a lack of sleep.

Hi, I’m Barbara. I love helping families with their sleep.

My daughter had many sleep challenges. When you are tired and at your wits end with sleep, you’ll try anything to help. I didn’t know sleep training was a thing until I hired a “gentle” sleep consultant. In my sleep deprived state I just assumed this person could help my daughter sleep. Instead the advice just added to our frustrations and when I was told we were causing the sleep issues, it just made me feel worse about myself.

My desire to understand the ‘why’ behind my daughter’s sleep issues resulted in me gaining further education in the field. I was able to help her sleep better and heal my chronic insomnia. Now, I strive to educate about all things sleep so that you have more understanding and feel empowered to respond to your little one’s sleep challenges in a way that feels good to you.

Is the Sleep SOS Consult for me?

You’ve probably heard or already experienced the wide range of sleep advice out there.

The current approaches to sleep in infants and children have been popularly advised to parents for sleep for many years. I find they create more problems than help and research shows they do not decrease night-waking nor improve maternal mood.

I work differently, because you and your family deserve an approach that improves sleep and aligns to your values. An approach that is grounded in the latest neuroscience, sleep science and psychology to promote optimal development outcomes.
I get it.

You need some changes to your family’s sleep.
You’ve maybe tried other sleep coaches and sleep advice and feel like you’ve done everything already.
You might be thinking there is an underlying health issue or other factor contributing to the poor sleep.
You don’t want to leave your baby or child crying it out, but you still want to improve your family’s sleep.

My approach is holistic and seeks to identify the underlying contributors of your sleep challenges. I developed the ABC’s of SLEEP to make the process of what needs to be considered when there are sleep challenges as easy as possible to ensure results. It is this integrative approach that addresses the ABC’s of SLEEP that I offer in every Sleep SOS Consult.
